Disc springs (Belleville washers) are conical-shaped washers that support high loads with relatively small deflection. They can be stacked in series or parallel to achieve the exact load and deflection required. They are used in bolted joints, valve actuators, clutches, pipe flanges and railway applications where space is limited.
