Mining Machinery Springs: Heavy Duty Compression & Disc Springs for Crushers, Screens & Feeders

Heavy duty springs for mining and mineral processing machinery, built to carry constant shock load, vibration and abrasive conditions above and below ground.

Mining Machinery Spring Solutions

Equipment in the mining and mineral processing sector runs under constant shock load, vibration and abrasive conditions, often for long shifts, and downtime on a crusher, screen or conveyor is expensive. CHENJI manufactures mining machinery springs for this duty, from crushers, screens and feeders to conveying systems and haulage equipment. Because a mining spring has to carry heavy load and survive millions of cycles in a dusty environment, it is produced with controlled material, controlled heat treatment and a protective finish — not simply to a wire diameter.

Where mining machinery springs work

Heavy duty compression springs are used on vibrating screens, feeders, crushers and conveying equipment to carry and isolate load. Where a very high force has to be generated in a small space — for example for preload or clamping — disc springs to DIN 2093 are used instead. In service the spring must hold a stable rate under continuous load, resist fatigue over a long service interval, and resist corrosion and abrasion. Free length, solid height and load at the installed height are the three dimensions most often controlled on a spring drawing.

Materials and manufacturing process

Heavy duty mining springs are made from quality spring steel chosen to suit the duty cycle. Compression springs are commonly made from alloy spring steels such as 60Si2Mn and 51CrV4, quenched and tempered to the typical 40–50 HRC range so the spring has enough strength to carry load without becoming too brittle. Disc springs are produced in grades such as 60Si2Mn, 50CrVA and 65Mn and finished to suit the application. Our heat treatment equipment reaches 1500 °C, and our plant runs 35 machines producing springs across a 0.1–80 mm wire diameter range.

After forming and heat treatment, heavy duty springs are shot peened to raise fatigue strength, then finished with a protective coating. Zinc-nickel plating, zinc flake and epoxy powder coating are common corrosion protection systems, and coated parts can be checked with salt spray testing to ASTM B117. Safety-critical springs are examined for decarburisation and surface cracks, for example with magnetic particle inspection, before they leave the factory.

Applications

CHENJI mining machinery springs are used on jaw, cone and impact crushers, vibrating screens and scalping screens, vibrating feeders and grizzly feeders, belt conveyors and material handling systems, and haulage and loading equipment. The same material and process controls apply to prototype samples and to volume production, and we work from drawings or samples for both new equipment and rebuild programs.

Frequently asked questions

What types of springs do you supply for mining machinery?

Mining and mineral processing equipment mainly uses heavy duty compression springs and disc springs. Compression springs are used in crushers, screens, feeders and conveying equipment, while disc springs to DIN 2093 are used for preload and clamping duties where a very high force is needed in a small space.

What wire and thickness range can you produce?

Our plant covers a wire diameter range of 0.1–80 mm, and our heat treatment equipment reaches 1500 °C. Disc springs are commonly produced in thicknesses of about 0.2–35 mm, and the DIN 2093 series covers outer diameters from small sizes up to about 600 mm.

Which materials and hardness are used for mining springs?

Heavy duty compression springs are made from alloy spring steels such as 60Si2Mn and 51CrV4, heat treated to the typical 40–50 HRC range. Disc springs are commonly produced in 60Si2Mn, 50CrVA and 65Mn, heat treated and finished to suit the duty. We confirm material and hardness per application before production.

How are mining springs protected against corrosion and wear?

Common protection systems for springs are zinc-nickel plating, zinc flake and epoxy powder coating, and coated parts can be evaluated with salt spray testing to ASTM B117. Springs used in dusty or corrosive mine environments are finished to suit the site conditions.

Can you supply custom heavy duty springs to drawing?

Yes. We work from customer drawings and specifications, confirm tooling needs and feasibility, and can produce prototype samples to validate fit before series production. Free length, solid height and load at the installed height are the three dimensions most often controlled on a spring drawing.
